Akira Jakkson

Hello! My name is Akira and I am a creative professional hailing from Columbus, Ohio. My passion lies in visual storytelling, carefully crafting narratives through film and video. Over the last 6 years, I have dedicated much of my time to creating short films, micro-documentaries, music videos, promotional videos for clients, and much more. My experience includes directing, producing, writing, editing, and filming, as well as prop management, set design, and art direction.

As a student at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, I held several short-term contract jobs through the University, in addition to internships and part-time video work in various departments. I was President of the student-led video production organization, AVW Productions, from 2022-2023, in which I oversaw all productions from start to finish. 

 

During my final year at OHIO, I began work with the Athena Cinema, in which I gained a multitude of skills pertaining to cinema projector usage and maintenance, audio-visual presentation, and general theater management. My love for filmmaking coupled with my technical knowledge made catering a theatrical experience for audiences an enjoyable endeavor that I am happy to pursue.

 

In 2023, I received a Bachelor of Science in Communication (BSC) for Integrated Media Production and a Certificate in Middle Eastern & North African Studies from Ohio University.

 

I am currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Special Effects Makeup, Prosthetics, and Props from Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada, where I aim to develop my skills in practical effects and prop creation for film and television.
